30 day shred?

Does anyone know what types of weights need to be purchased to do the 30 day shred? Looking into getting into strength training, and thought I would give it a try.

If you have tried it, did you like it? Why or why not?

Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks

Thanks for the advice on how to handle the situation my daughter is in. She told me about it this morning on the way to school, and was clearly upset about it. Unfortunately, the drive to school did not give us much time to talk about it enough and discuss her feelings about what is going on. I will feel her out this afternoon when she gets home and see if she wants to talk about it further, and if she wants to take any actions.

Something like this makes me truly appreciate the healthy lifestyle examples I am giving my daughters. My heart breaks for this other girl because, apparently, her parenst continually tell her she is overweight (which clearly she isn’t!). Don’t parents (or any adult for that matter) understand how impressionable young girls/adults are?! the examples we give and what we tell our kids will have a tremendous impact on who they are and on the spirit of who they are. These kids are a gift to us…we MUST treasure them, protect them, and keep them safe.

Advice, please!

What do you do when your 16 year old daughter tells you one of her friends is anorexic? Contact the school counselor, her parents, or give my daughter advice on what to do about it. If I should tell my daughter ways to help her, what should I tell her?

Sick sucks!

I have had the flu for a week now…I am so over it! Ugh! Everything has been off…my schedule, my running, and my eating. Can’t wait to get back to normal. Sigh.

To run or not to run? What do you do?

I went for a run in Tuesday’s yucky weather, and have been feeling sick ever since. I don’t know if it was the cold wet weather that has put me under, or if I got it from the daughter (same symptoms she has/had). I had a scheduled run for yesterday that I obviously missed because running and a temp of 100 don’t really mix. :/

I am feeling better today, and have a doctor’s appointment for this afternoon. I have another run scheduled for tomorrow, but I don’t know if I should attempt it. It is not long or hard run (c25k w5d2), but I don’t know if it will make me feel worse or not.

Question: When you are feeling slightly under the weather (no fever), do you still work-out, or is it best to rest and start again the next week?

Running out of steam

I feel like I am losing steam. This always happens. My workouts and eating have been really good (for the most part) over the past two months. Somehwere along the line, however, I seem to burn out. Maybe it happens because of my weight-loss slows or stops, or maybe its because I get bored with it (especially with food) - I don’t know. What I do know is that I have to stick with it.

I have had a few bad days of eating over the past 1-2 weeks, but my weight-loss stopped before that. It is very discouraging. I lose motivation. I think “What’s the point? Maybe I was just destined to be overweight all my life. Afterall, I have never been skinny in my entire life.” I have only lost 8 pounds in the past 6 weeks. And most of that occured during the first 2 to 3 weeks. I have only lost about 2 pounds in the past 3 weeks. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I have started working out more, my calories have been right in the range they should be (aside from the 2 or 3 days I went over), and I still remain the same. What gives?!

Anyway, that is my frustration this morning as I put on my running clothes and head out the door. I know I can’t stop or everything I have  done in the past 6 weeks will be for nothing. Hoping for a good week this week.
